Games Standards Rules Regulations.
As the games are constantly evolving, we will post new rules and standards below. In the meantime here are some of last years standards. Perhaps it would be a good idea to incorporate them into your training
.
Run – Any technique as long as the prescribed distance is covered.
Pull Ups – The chest (anywhere from the sternum down) must make contact with the bar. The body must then be lowered to full arms extension, with no bend in the elbows.
Kettlebell Swing – The kettlebell must swing from between the legs to above the head so at least part of the ear is exposed in front of the arms.
Clean & Jerk – The bar must be lifted from the ground to over head with a clean grip. In the overhead position, the hips must be fully open and arms extended so at least part of the ear is exposed in front of the arm.
Hand Stand Push Up – At the bottom of the rep the head will make contact with the floor. At the top of the movement the arms will be fully extended and the feet will be in contact with the wall. Hand width will be no wider than your barbell press grip. This will be measured and marked on the floor at your station.
The future
Over the next few months we will be telling you what your local Crossfit Centre can do to help you prepare and what you can personally do to help the event along, even if you are not competing.
For now, book mark this site and we will add as much information as possible as soon as possible.
Security
what we will say is that every entrant onto the base will need to be security checked, so ticket sales for this event will probably close two weeks before the event date!

Check it out if you want to join in the adventures… or just fancy some banter about the UK sectional
Just say for talks sake someone fails the security check, will this mean they don’t get the chance to qualify?
To make it absolutely clear, if you failed the security check you would not be able to enter the base, and so you would loose the chance to qualify at this particular venue. That would not stop the individual going to another venue elsewhere
I will, however, try and indicate under what circumstances such a failure would occur without compromising the security of the base!
But I ought to make the point that if someones security profile is so poor that it prevents them from entering an airbase, it could well stop people entering the united states and getting through their passport controls
ll report back asap
Andrew
Hey,
Re the logo. It’s the UK & Ireland Qualifier.
I know it’s the Union flag n’all, but there’s no way I would put it on our website! It’s just a bit sensitive for us as we have people from both sides of the community training with us, plus I bet the Irish bods will feel slightly pissed at it..
Done!

what you been up too Johnny Boy?
I am a crossfitter based out of Liverpool. I signed up for the sectional qualifier, but I currently have no way of getting to Mildenhall. I don’t have a car, but would be willing to take a train to try and get a ride with someone. If anyone based in Manchester, London or some other place that is easy to get to by train would be willing to help me out I would be much obliged.
Megan
I happen to know that a whole bunch from Crossfit Central Manchester are heading down to Mildenhall. You may want to see if any of the folks from there or Crossfit Manchester have space in one of their cars.
Regards
Peter
Peter,
Thanks for the tip, I will loook into it.
Best,
Megan
Megan – I’ll be travelling down with the other guys and girls from Manchester. I’m sure we’ll be able to help you out with a lift. Find us on Facebook (search for Crossfit Central Manchester) if you’re on it – or alternatively drop me an email at matt_foster@hotmail.co.uk.

So I am a total novice when it comes to the Games. I was wondering if anyone knew a good source of information about how they are run. Specifically I am wondering about scaling and what happens if I can’t complete a workout. I will be training hard, but right now I can’t do a muscle up or a handstand push up or even high rep pull ups. I am just wondering what would happen if these events were to come up in the qualifier and I could not complete them. Thank you to anyone who could provide me a little guidance.
Hi Megan
If an exercise were to come up which meant you didn’t think you could complete a workout you will be allowed to scale, however this would preclude you from qualifying from the sectionals to the regionals. There has deliberately been emphasis put on allowing as many people to compete as possible, whatever their standard so don’t let not being able to perform specific exercises put you off competing. On the day you may even find you can do exercises you didn’t think you were capable of due to the inspirational atmosphere that no doubt will exist.
Hope to see you there. Mike
Can someone please post details of nearby hotels, B&Bs etc to the venue. We’d like to get all our travel and accommodation plans squared away by end of January.
Cheers.
Hello,
I’ve recently registered for the games and named a friend to come as a guest, which is included in the entry fee. I received the confirmation email but there is no mention of the guest on the reply. Is this ok or have I made a mistake on registering?
Many thanks
the CrossFit Central Manchester Invitational Games.
We would all like to compete in the CrossFit Games in Aromas but alas, only 3 men and women from Europe will be able to do so, so we thought it would be a great weekend to host an Invitational to all CrossFitters to have a go at the WOD’s at this years 2010 Games.
Date 17th July 2010
Event Time: 9am until 6pm
Location: CrossFit Central Manchester
There could be any number of WODs on the Saturday so who knows what to expect! After the fun and games we will then all head into Manchester’s Northern Quarter for food and drinks.
If you or anyone else at your affiliates and community would like to attend as an athlete, spectator or as a judge then please let us know by confirming on info@crossfitcentralmanchester.co.uk
The cost to compete will be £10 per athlete which will cover refreshments, and a prize for the top men and women of the day.
Please forward this invitation to all known CrossFitters who think will be interested
3-2-1 Go!
Best regards

Has anyone contacted base security or any other POC at the air base to see what the entry pre-requesites will be? I work at Mildenhall, and have not yet seen this event advertised…
UPDATE
Hi Guys a quick extract from an email from Kempie
“Registration for the event will be 6pm to 9pm on the friday night and should provide sufficient flexibility for pretty much everyone. Also, many would want to try and get their bearings the night before the event so there are no last minute dramas on the day.
On the same theme there will be a compulsory judges meeting on the evening before (lets say 8pm) to discuss ROM standards and how the day will be run”.
Anthony ( from Mildenhall HAWC) will come back to us next week with details of local hotels, B & B;s etc. He will also talk about security issues and the information required for clearance.
Its nice to welcome some commercial supporters of the Sectional including mens Fitness, who will also have some staff taking part.
And Adam, we don’t have control over the head office registration system, so drop an email back to head office ( there should be a query email on your registration confirmation),
