Claire Graham

This week marks Claire’s one year CrossFit anniversary at CFL and what a ride it’s been! Usually seen with her mates Loren and Jamie, Claire surrounds herself with people that are even more crazy about CrossFit than she is. Claire always puts in maximum effort and it’s been a pleasure to watch her improve as an athlete now hitting a lot of workouts RX. Rain or shine, sober or hungover, Claire rarely late cancels a class. 2018 is going to be a year full of PBs, new skills, and socials!
Well done Claire.

Vidhya Pushpanathan

Vidhya has been one of the most consistent attenders of the Gymnastics Strength class, rarely missing a class and always enthusiastic and very focused. Her commitment is paying dividends, with some great improvements in her gymnastics.

This week’s Member of the Week goes to

Stephen Rose

It’s only been a short time I’ve been coaching at CrossFit London but every time I’ve seen Stephen he has put more than a 100% into each workout and, to be honest, seeing that much effort being put in has given me a kick in the ass for my own training!!!
Keep up the hardwork and
Sorry about the pic dude lol

This week’s Member of the Week goes to

Sean Woodlock

A regular in every type of class offered at CrossFit London, Sean has been on the scene for 18 months. And because he works his socks off at everything from Metcon to gymnastic strength to Powerlifting – he’s is a force to be reckoned with! He’s also a really nice guy to have around the gym.
Sean is directional in his attitude to social media; he’s agin’ it. Which shows he’s not only skilled and tough, he keeps it real. As such, don’t forget to congratulate him with an actual fist-bump, genuine applause and a proper smile.
Well done Sean, you’re an inspiration.

Dave Maher-Bouzguenda

My MotW goes to Dave. If you don’t know Dave, you must be living under a rock! I remember when he came in for the first time and discovered snatches… what a nemesis. Unable to do them even with a PVC he practiced hard, slowly moving through all the bars we have eventually graduating to a 20kg one and now even though he still struggles in a squat he’s built a reasonable weight on the power snatch. Always enthusiastic, supportive in partner WODs and never bites his tongue is what we all love about Dave.
Just make sure you don’t start setting up for your WOD on his ‘spot’… you’ll be in big trouble. Well done, Dave. Well deserved!

Vivienne Avey

Viv is one of our lovely long standing morning crew, who turns up with her eyes partly closed but smiling away.

You tend to find her in a corner with her twin Georgina catching up on the gossip!

However, she’s hard working and never makes a fuss and is forever trying to improve on her weaknesses; this week I got to watch her get her kipping pull ups mid WOD! Proud Coach!!

Keep it up, lady

This week’s Member of the Week goes to

Anna Haswell

Hell to the MuthaF*#%inG Yeah!!
A long, long overdue shout out to one of the hardest working athletes in this gym. I first noticed Anna when she threw herself head first over a box during a WOD and from that day I kept a close eye on her but not only to make sure that her raw determination didn’t kill her but to also watch that determination, guts and relentless drive to be the best version of herself blossom. Always on time, always ready to accept a challenge and always honest with her abilities, Anna is not only a great benchmark for other athletes but also a top friend. It’s been my complete pleasure to help coach her alongside other staff and also do the odd bodybuilding leg session together always followed by an utterly devastating Nando’s sesh. So, today I nominate Anna Haswell as my Member of the Week.

Seth Hanson

When faced with a partner wod in MetCon class, Seth Hanson is your guy; he makes a solid partner and won’t leave you behind. Always a team player and a great motivator to have in a packed out class. Consistent and hardworking, Seth is a star athlete in MetCon.

This week’s Member of the Week goes to

Matthew Perry

Matt started CrossFitting at CFL at the beginning of this year, and has been coming consistently ever since. Spotted most often in MetCons, he has a terrific engine, but suffers with a lack of mobility which holds back his lifting. Over the last couple of months I have seen him make a concerted effort to improve him ROM (sometimes more willingly that others), whether I’m making him squat onto a med ball or spending that little extra time mobilising.
You won’t ever see him slack off in a WOD, he never complains, is always ready to listen and is always a pleasure to have in class.

This week’s Member of the Week goes to

Kim Mirren

Ever present in my gymnastics skills class, it’s safe to say that Kim has drunk the CrossFit KoolAid and is intoxicated with it. The reasons why Kim started CrossFit are twofold: to get better at surfing and to someday beat her brother and sister in law in a WOD. The way Kim has been improving, that won’t be too far away!
There are two qualities in Kim as an athlete that caught my eye. Firstly, her determination and coach-ability. Kim is always willing to listen and do whatever scale necessary to get better. Rather than feel daunted with the amount of work needed to put in, she views everything I throw at her as a challenge. Secondly, Kim embraces the community aspect of CrossFit. She started a Whatsapp group with the other L1s when no one knew each other to coordinate classes and for general CrossFit bantz. Kim was quick to recognise that the community, possibly the most important aspect of CrossFit, keeps everyone accountable to each other. Kim’s attitude is an example to all!
